Duties
Occupational Therapy Site/Unit Educator provides discipline-specific clinical support, training, and education to designated staff within a team-based environment at Richmond Hospital. The role plans and implements site educational programs, offers at-the-elbow support, and maintains knowledge of clinical best practices while working under the direction of the Manager and/or Clinical Operations Supervisor.
Hard requirements
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and five (5) years' recent, related broad Occupational Therapy experience in a variety of practice areas.
  • Completion of a professional instructional program for teaching.
  • Experience creating educational materials, implementing education strategies, utilizing knowledge translation abilities, and mentoring students.
  • Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of organization policies, legislation, standards of care, and Occupational Therapy theory within a client and family centred model.
  • Broad knowledge of provincial standards of practice, adult education theory, curriculum design, tele-health, and other health care disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety, provide culturally safe care, develop effective education modules, lead/coach/teach, and promote evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and outside agencies; plan, organize, and prioritize work; and operate related equipment.
  • Computer literacy related to tele-health, technology-based learning, spreadsheets, and databases.
