Job description
Provides subject matter expertise for medically delegated grossing procedures and technical services in Surgical Pathology and Autopsy, ensuring quality patient care through standardized processes and LEAN principles. Demonstrates proficiency in complex specimen grossing, frozen sectioning, and digital image capture while participating in internal and external meetings.
Hard requirements
- Pathologists’ Assistant certification from CCCP-CCCAP or ASCP required (within 1 year for new graduates)
- Minimum of 3 years as a Pathologists’ Assistant in an academic hospital clinical lab preferred
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and describe diagnostic anatomical features in tissue from complex cases
- Ability to provide quality frozen sections under strict timelines
- Strong theoretical and working knowledge of good lab practice
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and effective time management
- Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
