POSITION FUNCTIONPerforms functions related to planning, development and implementation of departmental projects.
Plans, coordinates, assigns and reviews the operational programs for the building services section.
KEY DUTIESCoordinates, assigns and reviews the work of approximately 25 FTE janitorial staff; ensures schedules, procedures and established performance and safety standards are met.
Responsible for full supervision which includes providing direction, coaching, training and guidance to staff.

Plans, implements and coordinates projects; develops and schedules work plans and coordinates yearly work plans.
Organizes and conducts monthly staff meetings; attends trade shows, workshops and seminars.
Plans, prioritizes and monitors the section?s annual work programs; assists in preparing, estimating and tracking annual budgets; authorizes and monitors expenditures; makes recommendations regarding equipment and/or operational changes with related costs and staff resources.
Provides excellent and efficient service to both internal and external customers in keeping with the City of Victoria?s service standards.
Collaborates in a team environment to deliver operational work programs and capital projects.
Makes recommendations regarding new procedures, chemicals and equipment.
Prepares and presents program proposals to Managers for information or approval.
Maintains a variety of manual and computerized records such as holiday time, sick leave, work orders and projects; codes delivery slips for payment; requisition materials, equipment and services.
Reviews job matters and schedules with outside agencies and City departments.
Conducts site inspections at various locations to review work progress.
Responds to general inquiries and complaints.
Liaises with and provides information to City departments, community associations and outside agencies on project requirements, progress and budgets.
Responds to enquiries and requests for service from departments.
Performs related duties where qualified.
INDEPENDENCEWork is performed according to established procedures and schedules or assigned by supervisor.
Work is reviewed upon completion.
Issues such as major purchases and changes to procedures are discussed with supervisor.
