Current Opportunity: We're Hiring a Human Resources Coordinator.
The HR Coordinator delivers the day-to-day administration that makes this work possible.
As the first point of contact for employees and supervisors on routine HR matters, the HR Coordinator manages recruitment and onboarding logistics, keeps employee records and HR systems accurate and confidential, provides back-up support to payroll and benefits inputs, and supports health and safety documentation and compliance tracking.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position based at SDC?s head office, with regular travel to divisional work sites where construction, forestry, archaeology, and environmental crews operate.
Responsibilities: Recruitment and Onboarding
Administer the full recruitment cycle under the direction of the HR Manager and hiring supervisors, including preparing and posting job advertisements that include the required wage or salary range.
Maintain the hiring tracker, screen applications against posted qualifications, and schedule prescreen calls and interviews.
Conduct reference checks and prepare offer letters and employment agreements from approved templates, ensuring applicants are not asked about their pay history.
Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including driver?s abstract reviews and required certifications.
Deliver new-hire orientation so every new employee receives their policies, safety orientation, and required documentation before starting work.
Records, Payroll and Benefits
Maintain complete and confidential employee files, and keep the master employee spreadsheet and ADP HRIS current for hires, status changes, wage changes, leaves, and terminations.
Prepare and verify HR inputs to payroll each pay period, including new hires, rate changes, overtime and standby entries, leaves, and terminations, and work with Finance to resolve discrepancies.
Support time-tracking accuracy in Replicon.
Administer group benefits enrolments, changes, and terminations with Canada Life, and assist employees with claims and disability paperwork.
Prepare Records of Employment and employment verification letters as required to support Payroll.
Track certification and training expiry dates, probation periods, and performance review cycles.
Ensure personnel information is collected, stored, and disclosed in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and SDC policy.
Employee Support, Health and Safety, and Compliance
Respond to routine employee and supervisor questions about policies, pay, leaves, and benefits, and escalate complex or sensitive matters to the HR Manager.
Draft employee communications, letters, and notices from approved templates, and help ensure information reaches employees at remote and field sites in a timely way.
