The Diagnostic Imaging Clerk receives requisitions, schedules examinations using the RIS, acts as a receptionist, registers patients, and retrieves or files digital images and films.
Hard requirements
- Grade 12 or recognized equivalent
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Administrative Assistant Program, medical secretary program, or first year of nursing diploma/degree; OR successful completion of a medical terminology course PLUS one-year experience in Patient Registration or related clinical experience (ward clerk, Unit Assistant, Secretary, or Receptionist)
- Previous PACS experience is an asset
- Keyboard speed of 35 wpm
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to interact well with others, work independently with minimal supervision, retain confidential information, adapt to stressful situations, and work with accuracy
- Good telephone manner and interpersonal communication skills
- Physically capable of assisting patients in wheelchairs
- Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check
