Duties
Advisor, Protection Services provides leadership and direction to security officers across Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), overseeing all aspects of planning, organizing, and directing security operations. The role acts as Duty Officer, liaises with various security staff and managers, and ensures compliance with policies while supporting Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health pillars.
Hard requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/law enforcement, business administration, or related social sciences discipline with specialized training in security, fire safety, emergency management, occupational safety, and risk management.
- Three (3) to five (5) years' progressive experience in a large multi-union organization or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Eligible to hold OFA2 and AST certificates and hold a valid security license.
- Valid BC driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in MS Office and related software applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Work format
- Part-Time (FTE 0.50)
- Standard Hours / Week: 18.75
- Shift Times: 0800-1600 and/or 1600-2400
- Days Off: Rotating
- Work Schedule Details: Rotating schedule to ensure coverage across various sites and operational needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Location Type: Home Worksite 00 - Excluded - VCHA Labour Agreement; may travel to sites within VCH geographic area.
