The Construction Safety Officer conducts site safety inspections and supports the implementation of occupational health and safety requirements on municipal construction and operational sites.
Hard requirements
- Completion of a recognized Construction Safety Officer training program.
- Eligibility for, or current certification as, a Construction Safety Officer through ASTTBC or an equivalent recognized organization.
- Experience conducting safety inspections on construction, municipal infrastructure, civil works, utilities, or operational sites.
- Working knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, Vancouver Building By-law, applicable fire-code requirements, and construction safety practices.
- Strong hazard-recognition, report-writing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining professional, collaborative relationships with clients, contractors, supervisors, and workers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting or document-management systems.
- Valid Class 5 driver?s licence and the ability to travel to project sites throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
- Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, nights, or weekends based on active construction schedules.
