Job description
Performs word processing and clerical work in the Building Department, including typing records, posting journal entries, and providing information to the public. Sorts, checks, and processes office materials while maintaining files and performing simple arithmetic computations.
Hard requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 with courses in word processing and standard commercial subjects
- Some experience as a Clerk Typist 1 or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic
- Sound knowledge of practices and procedures used in various software applications (EnerGov)
- Ability to keyboard and operate software applications to process documents and prepare records
- Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks within a reasonable time and perform them according to prescribed methods
- Ability to make simple arithmetic computations accurately and with reasonable speed
- Ability to compose routine letters and memoranda
- Ability to effectively deal with the public regarding department rules and regulations
Pay & benefits
- Salary: $29.25 - 30.39 - 31.58 - 32.88 - 34.25/hour
- Benefits governed by CUPE 23 Inside Division Collective Agreement
Work format
- Regular Full Time
- Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)
