sewing machine operator
Duties
Perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment, operate machines to join sections of garments into finished products on a piece-work basis, and sew by hand.
Hard requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
- 2 years to less than 3 years of experience
- Experience with materials such as canvas, cotton, synthetic, knits, satin, or silk
- Equipment experience including button holer, double needle machine, feller, fusing machine, hemmer, industrial sewing machine, multi-needle machine, piping machine, profile stitcher, seamer, serger, single needle machine, or tacker
- Sewing experience in commercial, domestic, garment section work, piecework, semi-section garment work, or whole garment
- Ability to distinguish between colours, attention to detail, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination
Pay & benefits
- $18/hr
Work format
- On site: Work must be completed at the physical location with no option to work remotely
- Physically demanding environment involving bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Combination of sitting, standing, and walking in a fast-paced setting
