Job description
The Engineering Technologist reviews subdivision, rezoning, development and building permit applications to ensure compliance with municipal bylaws, policies and technical requirements. Responsibilities include assessing infrastructure impacts, conducting site inspections, issuing permits, and providing technical guidance to internal departments and external stakeholders.
Hard requirements
- Considerable knowledge of municipal design, engineering standards and land servicing requirements, including relevant bylaws, policies, regulations and permitting processes
- Considerable knowledge of methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the design, construction and installation of municipal utilities such as roads, water, stormwater and sanitary systems
- Sound knowledge of engineering practices and the interpretation of engineering plans, specifications, contract documents and related technical data
- Sound knowledge of engineering and mapping software including CAD and GIS computerized mapping principles, techniques and related software
- Ability to read, interpret and apply municipal bylaws, subdivision and zoning regulations, the BC Building Code and other relevant legislation such as the Local Government Act and Community Charter
- Ability to plan, research, develop, schedule, and administer capital and development infrastructure projects, including preparing cost estimates, managing budgets and coordinating tendering processes
- Ability to prepare, review and interpret engineering designs, plans, and technical drawings for accuracy and compliance with standards
- Ability to analyze infrastructure capacities, evaluate development impacts and prepare detailed reports with recommendations

- $47.02 - $55.55 per hour
