Job description
The District of Fort St. James is seeking a full-time, permanent Water/Wastewater Operator to ensure the safe delivery of drinking water and effective wastewater collection in compliance with regulations. The role involves operating, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater systems while responding to emergencies and maintaining accurate records.
Hard requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Water/Wastewater Operator Level I Certification and Level 1 Water Treatment
- Class 5 Driver?s License with a clean driver?s abstract
- Basic First Aid
- Minimum of two years of experience with water distribution, wastewater collection, wastewater treatment systems, lift/pump station maintenance
- General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and sewer use bylaws
- Successful completion of a criminal record check
- Class 3 Driver?s License with Air Brakes (asset)
Pay & benefits
- Hourly rate of $44.55
- 4% in lieu of vacation after successful completion of a 90-day probationary period
