Nominee Program Priorities in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia’s nominee programs are focused on addressing the province’s most critical labour‑market needs while managing limited nomination spaces, with an emphasis on candidates who demonstrate a genuine intention to live, work, and settle long‑term in the province.

Current priority focus

Healthcare and skilled trades occupations

These occupations are a top priority for nomination at TEER levels 0–4 only and may be considered for both:

• International applicants, and

• Temporary residents already living and working in Nova Scotia

TEER 5 occupations are not being prioritized.

Other priority occupations

In addition to healthcare and skilled trades, Nova Scotia may consider nominations for temporary residents who are already living and working in the province in the following occupational groups, where they align with program criteria and labour‑market needs:

• NOC 2 – Natural and Applied Sciences and Related Occupations

• NOC 4 – Education, Law and Social, Community and Government Services

• NOC 8 – Natural Resources, Agriculture and Related Production Occupations

• NOC 9 – Manufacturing and Utilities

Consideration under these occupational groups is limited to TEER levels 0–4 only.

TEER 5 occupations are not being prioritized at this time.

Limited consideration for remaining occupations

For occupations outside the priority groups, nominations are currently limited to:

• TEER 0, 1, and 2 only, and

• Temporary residents already living and working in Nova Scotia

TEER 5 occupations are not being prioritized in any category at this time.

Program priorities may shift as labour‑market needs and nomination allocations change. Applicants are encouraged to monitor program updates regularly.
